Barcelona, nit d’estiu (Barcelona, Summer Night) is an ensemble romantic comedy about six different love stories that cross paths in one night around the city of Barcelona. The movie was shot during the second half of 2012 by a very young independent crew and was later picked up by El Terrat Produccions. It was my first produced feature-film screenplay, written in collaboration with Eduard Sola and Èric Navarro.
The movie was first presented to audiences through a summer tour across several cities that ended with two sold-out shows in Barcelona. Afterwards, Barcelona, nit d’estiu got a very successful limited release in Spain.
It went on to receive three nominations to the Gaudí Awards, including Best Picture, and ended up winning Best Original Soundtrack. It also won the audience award at the Festival Internacional de Cinema en Català.
A sequel is now in pre-production, titled Barcelona, nit de Reis.
